Mi Vida Loco

Okay, so my first fanfic got quite the shocking response – I even got encores for “MORE!” which really surprised me.  Not because I think I’m a terrible writer, but because I just wasn’t sure how interested anyone would be, you know?  And honestly, did it even have a future?

So, anyway, while driving my child to the grocery store last night, I was listening to one of my old standby CD’s – and it’s not just old as in old music, but the CD itself is quite old – and had a bit of a flash of inspiration title-wise for this next part.  The CD in question is Pam Tills’ Greatest Hits and the song?  Mi Vida Loca (My Crazy Life).  I laughed and thought, “Wow, this is the perfect title for this second installment in the whole ‘sex pollen’ thing.”  And then, the funniest thing happened.  Last night, before I even started working on this WIP, I put together the beginnings of a playlist to help me along.  And for those of you who don’t know, I make playlists for everything I write… and should anyone ever get ahold of my iPod, they’d really wonder.

But I digress…

This morning, I left the house on my way to work and the first song on the playlist was… Mi Vida Loca, of course!  Well, there I am, sitting at a stoplight, singing along and – holy crap – the lyrics just hit me and I start cackling.  And I mean laughing uncontrollably at how perfectly perfect this song is for these two boys!

I mean, seriously… this is the first verse:

If you're coming with me you need nerves of steel
'Cause I take corners on two wheels
It's a never-ending circus ride
The faint of heart need not apply

Right???  And this second verse is what I’m contemplating as far as they are concerned:

Sweetheart before this night is through
I could fall in love with you
Come dancing on the edge with me
Let my passion set you free

Is it love?  Is it the love potion?  Or, like another Pam Tillis song goes, “Maybe it was you maybe it was me, but it sure felt right…”  (Maybe it Was Memphis)

I guess we’ll have to wait and see.  And in case you care, here’s the rest of my playlist to date:

T&W (Travis & Wes because I refused to put ‘sex pollen’ on my iPod)

Mi Vida Loca (My Crazy Life) – Pam Tillis (see above)

Ten Thousand Angels – Mindy McCready – I love the idea of this song.  ‘I can fight all that I’m feeling, but I can’t do it alone… I need ten thousand angles to walk out the door’.  Again – accurate.

Shut up and Kiss Me – Mary Chapin Carpenter - I think this is self-explanatory.

I Feel Lucky – Mary Chapin Carpenter -  See previous song.  I just love her music.  Always fits where I need it to.

Harder to Breathe – Maroon 5 – this song is what started the first installment, so I can’t help but include it here.  ‘When it’s cold out side and I got nobody to love… is anybody out there cause it’s getting harder and harder to breathe’.

Desperation – Miranda Lambert – one line says it all: Desperation, there’s danger in frustration.

Unskinny Bop – Poison – ever hear the story about why this song was written?  Let’s just say that CC DeVille, man-whore supreme – was caught in an um, precarious position…  Sound familiar?

Sexual Thing – Poison – Heh.  I think the title says it all, no?

Addicted – Saving Abel – ‘I’m so addicted to, all the things that you do…’  (Poor Wes, he’s in for a rude awakening by the end of this story, I think)

Call Me – Shinedown – ‘Call me a sinner, call me a saint, tell me it’s over I’ll still love you the same’ (and this is Travis’ song for this one, I think)

Stuck Like Glue – Sugarland – this is just a fun song and I think it fits them both so well.  I mean, they’re pretty much stuck like glue, aren’t they?

Felt Good on My Lips – Tim McGraw – Now, I chose this song mostly for it’s great groove, but it fits too.  Everything that happens in this song, the narrator is pretty much unsure of.  However, once he dives right in, it feels good on his lips so he’s okay with it.  I think that’s pretty much the entire theme of this story.  What say you?

So, if nothing else, it’s a fun tour through 90’s country music.  *snort*

Keep your eyes peeled, I hope to have the second part of this posted by this weekend with the third and final to be posted whenever I get around to it.

Choices

Okay, so the last few days have been really hard on me and I don’t know why or how to fix it.  So, I decided to sit down and write today, hoping it’d help.  It didn’t, or at least, not much, but whatever.  But I did it, and here it is.

Note: the ending kinda sucks, but what with the mood I’m in, I figured that if I didn’t find a way to give these two a HEA, or at least a HFN, it’d end in a murder-suicide and we’d have Wes and Travis on-site to solve the mystery… LMAO.

Side note: I have a new obsession and his name is Warren Kole.  And this is the picture I ogled while writing this short.  I swear, his smile is enough to almost lift this haze of depression I’m fighting…

tumblr_m4l5zwgRJn1rwoemso2_250Not bad, eh?  He’s got a great smile and lovely, lovely lips.  A mouth to die for.  Or to kiss senseless.  *coughs*  Where was I?  Oh.  Right.  Warren.  To make matters worse (better?), he has this deliciously deep voice and this way of standing there that just draws you in.  Completely.

Anyway… the story.  It’s here.  Enjoy.

Choices

I see his face and it stops me in my tracks. Those sultry blue eyes framed by golden lashes. My heart skips a beat and suddenly I realize that he’s no longer mine. That he’s moved on and is loving someone new. She moves into his embrace and one slender arm wraps around his waist, pulling him near. Possessive.

My heart breaks. Watching him direct his endless affection at her is too much and I move to leave. Something tugs at me and I look back, just a glance over my shoulder. I see those full, pink lips turn up at the corners and I can see just a hint of perfectly straight, white teeth peeking out. He used to smile at me like that, like I was his whole world.

He’s pulling me back in again and I’m helpless to resist.

I want to go to him, to tell him I’m sorry and that I want it all back, but I can’t. With him, I’m just not able, not after all that’s gone between us. So I swallow my hurt and I walk away, all the words that needed speaking are left unspoken. All my emotions left bubbling, brewing beneath the surface of my soul

I love you, I need you, I didn’t mean to. I was wrong and I’m sorry. Take me back, please, and save me from myself.

It takes everything within me, but somehow I manage to walk away. Even if I leave a piece of me behind on the sidewalk.

--

I knew it was her from the moment I saw her auburn curls floating on the breeze. Why hadn’t she stopped, said hello? Why was there always so much pain in her bright green eyes?

To say I had no idea would be lying to myself and I hated nothing more than a liar. I knew where that hurt came from and I knew that I was responsible for it. Yeah, she’d been the one to make the mistake, but I could have forgiven her, couldn’t I? So why didn’t I say the words when they came to me?

I love you and we can make this right. I can’t forgive you yet, but maybe in time. I don’t want you to go, let’s give it one more try.

I had been willing to give her another chance and yet, I didn’t. And I regretted it every night when I went to bed alone. Hated myself for reinforcing the pain when it wasn’t necessary.

The girl that had weaseled her way to my side returned my attention to her with a sigh of impatience. Looking at her, I understood in that moment what I needed to do if I was ever going to be happy again. If I was ever going to make things right with my heart. With a grunt, I pushed away and took off.

After her. After my future.

“Wait,” I called. She turned. I smiled. She smiled back, tentative.

I hold out my open arms. She hesitates just a moment and then she comes running back. To me. To us.

Last note (had to get one more in, right?): No idea if this will ever go any farther or not, but hey, it’s here and that’s more than I can say for anything else I’ve started lately.  LOL

Whoa… Where did I go?

Yeah, yeah, yeah… okay, so I know.  I’ve neglected you.  I’m sorry.  You can hate me if you like, but well, that’s life.

*snort*

But seriously, after trying to post things on Facebook and other places and no one ever seeing any of it, I’ve decided to go back to using my good ol’ faithful blog.  And here we are.  In an effort to start using this poor, neglected thing again, I’m working on creating and updating a master fic list, which you can find along the top of the blog, just below the blog title and just above the first post:

masterficlist

Just click on that link and it’ll take ya where you feel the need to go.  Currently, I only have the first Code Red story listed, but I’m working on it.

Please come back to visit.. I have some new stories for you, to be announced soon!

Musical Inspiration of the Day

So, I found a picture the other day of Chuck star Zachary Levi (you can find it here).  In it, he’s holding a cigarette to his mouth and looking down at the camera.  And while smokers completely turn me off, for some reason the combination of the cigarette, the smoke, and the look on his face totally inspired me in so many ways.  The colors, the textures, the subject. LOL  Oh, and the wonderful lighting helps.  A lot.

With that picture in mind, I began to write.  And it was going really well until, about 1000 words in, it took a really maudlin turn.  Now, while a bit of a sad tone to a story isn’t a bad thing, I had to stop and put it away for fear it would go way down into the darkness.  That happens more often than I’d like to admit and while I love a dark, emotionally wrenching story, the majority of the world out there doesn’t.  So, I stopped.  I needed to gather my thoughts, regroup, and formulate a new plan of attack.  Poor Jace. LOL

On my way into work this morning, however, my iPod gave me a bit of inspiration as well in the form of a song I haven’t heard in a long time.  It randomly spits out an older Tim McGraw song called “All We Ever Find” off his Tim McGraw & the Dancehall Doctors CD.  By the end of the first verse, I knew that this song fit the theme of the story I was writing perfectly.  It’s a love song full of hope and inspiration.  Passion, encouragement, contentment and unconditional love fill this song.  And it’s just what I needed to turn my story around.  Here are the lyrics for those of you who don’t know it.

All We Ever Find
Say exactly how you feel
Right now you're free to say it all
There is no one here to judge you
I only love you
You're free to close your eyes and fall
You can trust me, this is real
Say exactly how you feel

Tell me all your dreams
And what you think love means
We'll lock the world outside
Embrace the gift of time
Promising forever
Knowing that this moment
Might be all we ever find

Every breath of who you are
Tells a story that I love
I have finally found the truth
In what I see in you
And what I feel with every touch
The simple beauty of your heart
In every breath of who you are

Tell me all your dreams
And what you think love means
We'll lock the world outside
Embrace the gift of time
Promising forever
Knowing that this moment
Might be all we ever find

Tell me all your dreams
And what you think love means
We'll lock the world outside
Embrace the gift of time
Promising forever
Knowing that this moment
Might be all we ever find

Promising forever
Knowing that this moment
Might be all we ever find

It’s those little moments, the hug in the kitchen, the touching of hands as you pass on your way to the staircase, the accidental knock in the head in the car… wait, maybe not that last one… but the others, those are the moments that you remember forever.  It’s not the big, expensive presents, or the fancy dinners out, it’s those little moments that stick in your heart and make you know that the one you found is the one for you.  And that’s what this song made me realize.

And now, maybe it’ll be okay if Lessa spills her guts to Jace, telling her just why she’s so afraid to let him walk out that door.  After all, he is holding her securely in his lap and I highly doubt he’s going to let go until he gets the truth out of her.  But then, I could be wrong.  My characters have surprised me before.  *looks directly at Mr. Matson trying to hide in the corner*  And I have no doubt that they will continue to do so in the future.

Now?  Now I need to go finish this project.  :)

Ummm… What Next?

LOL

When I wrote all this, I hadn’t ever thought of having to put it all together.  And now, I’m stuck.  Not sure what comes next, or what should.  Been trying to patch things together as I go and hopefully it’s been working.  ROFL.

Guess I’m going to have to go back and figure that one out, huh?  I know I’m going to have to do some repair work and make a connection between where I left off today and what will most likely come next.  SO, if you find something that doesn’t make sense, be sure to holler at me.  :)

Code Red 2: Life Sentence: Info

Okay, so it’s been awhile.  And I have no excuse because, if you had any idea how many pieces I have written in this series, you’d shoot me for holding them hostage.  Or well, maybe not.  LOL

Anyway, I’ve been trying to find a better way to tie the first part in with what came after, and I think I have come to a workable solution.  If not, I’m sure you’ll let me know.  *glares at certain somebodies*  This might take longer to get posted and updated because things have changed in Ali’s world since I first started writing this and I need to make sure I have all my fact straight. LOL  Can’t have Ali complaining now, can I?  She does enough of that crap without a reason.  GIVE her a reason?  *shudders*

LOL

Happy Wednesday Faithful Reader (or two)!

About Sierra

This is the second in the Dakotah series, told from Sierra's point of view.  I think I like this lighter, shorter story better.  However, I went back and tweaked things after re-writing the original Dakotah story, so if there's something that doesn't quite jive, shoot me a note and let me know so I can fix it.  I thought I caught all those, but you know how sneaky those inconsistencies can be...

Now, onward and upward... or was it 'to infinity and beyond!'?

Onwards and Upwards

Now that I've finished posting Code Red: The First Mission, I'm working on editing the second installment that I'm calling Life Sentence (which may change, I suck like a cheap whore when it comes to thinking up titles).  It's all about babies and mistakes and things. LOL  This will probably take me a bit since I haven't touched any of it in awhile and I need to make sure it all connects.  ROFL  After opening up the first chapters, I see I wrote it August 29, 2006... so almost two years ago.  EEEEK!

So anyway... I'm not sure what to post next whether it'll be Dakotah, a vampire story I revamped (ha ha) for a writing contest or if it'll be Mr. Midnight, a stand-alone song inspired by a song of the same name by Garth Brooks.  Anyway, not that you care, as long as it's something, right?  And now, I've got a request for more of my lusty vamp couple so I'll have to think on that as well.

Huh.  Wonder if Deke knows Dakotah....

Quote of the Week

We're so engaged in doing things to achieve purposes of outer value that we forget that the inner value, the rapture that is associated with being alive, is what it's all about.

  - Joseph Campbell

And how very true is this?  As children, we live for the moment and strive for happiness in all things.  Once we become teens, we are taught that this is not how we are to live our lives.  Our sole purpose, once we become adults, is to present the perfect picture to the outside world.  No one is to know that we are struggling, that we are unhappy, that we dislike our jobs.  And they wonder why so many of us are medicated and numb these days.  At least I'll never have to worry about that.  Well, the numbness anyway.  I may just end up medicated if they ever catch me. LOL

The Weekend ~ Steve Wariner

Okay, so I swore to myself that I wouldn't post any more today.  Already went and changed my archiving to weekly because the monthly well... go look. LOL  But, I'm sitting here reading and listening to some music when this flash from the past hits me and I think about how appropriate it is to the entire Ali & Blake situation (and believe me, they HAVE a situation LOL).  So, I thought I'd share.

And well, um, now that I think about it... he has one more song that fits them as well (and one that my Blake's namesake likes to sing in concert)... Lonely Women Make Good Lovers.  *SNORT*

The Weekend

Couple of days isn't a very long time
Why can't I just walk away, I used to be good at goodbyes...
Out on the water...under the stars...
I let the moonlight play a trick on my heart

[CHORUS]
You had some fun for the weekend
But I'll be in love for the rest of my life
You took me out to the deep end
And I fell right over I didn't think twice
I found got something worth keepin
And if I can't have you tonight....
At least I had the weekend

The radio plays the sound of the waves rolling in
the smell of the night sure can get under your skin
Just for a moment...I held you too close
Now I'm all out of time and I don't want to let go

[REPEAT CHORUS]

[BRIDGE]
How much can happen in a night or two?
I guess its all depending on your point of view....
You had some fun for the weekend (girl)
But I'll be in love for the rest of my life
You took me out to the deep end
And I fell right over I didn't think twice
Finally got something worth keeping
And if I can't have you tonight
At least I had the weekend...

Current

As far as what I've written on I Can't Walk Away goes, that is.  Hope to get a couple more chapters written today and posted.  Would like to finish it before the week is over as well.  :)

Thanks for reading!

Morning

Howdy! As I mentioned in the 'About Me' on the side there, I'm Mika, the Crazy Lady's writing ego, or more commonly known as her 'pen name'. *shudders* Anyone ever read The Dark Half? Well, you'll never laugh at a 'pen name' ever again after that...

But I digress...

Here you will read my writings and sometimes, if I feel brave enough, my poems (which generally aren't all that good, but I keep trying...). Just be forewarned that sometimes my writings get a bit adult in nature and if that bothers you, just skip it. I'll try and warn you if it gets that way, but, I am, after all, only human and I do make mistakes. Like Ron White says, "Ever forget? Happened to me."

Till later,

Mika
